Scars

I know I’m not the only teacher with physical scars from a violent student.

I know there are children scarred by poor educations at the hands of adults who are more interested in the wealth they’re reaping from the public education institution’s status quo.

What do we say to adults who didn’t learn to read because no school board, school district administration, no principal. . .had the strength to say enough is enough.

When will public schools stop giving out scars, and start educating?

When will public school teachers stop getting scars, and be empowered?

The teachers’ unions haven’t kept teachers from getting scarred, nor students from illiteracy.

So why are we paying them dues?

It’s a scar on my pocketbook.
