All of these teachers refused to get vaccinated. Now, hundreds of students are under the supervision of…???
In Oregon, rules about requirements for substitute teacher qualifications were relaxed. Substitute teachers were already difficult to come by, but now practically anyone who “has a pulse and can walk down the sidewalk”, as one educator put it, can be placed in a classroom – in front of children who just recently were being taught by a certified, experienced teacher.
As one friend commented, “…this is a crime against students”.
Children have a statistically 0% chance of dying from Covid. Have you noticed that most states don’t require masks or vaccinations in schools? Yet, the narrative in roughly ten states is that masks and vaccines are keeping everyone “safe”.
Is this virus awful and tragic? Yes.
However, what is accomplished when educators in states with vaccine mandates are threatened with termination, and/or terminated? What’s the power player’s end game?
Conformity.
Education has taken a back seat to control. (I’m not sure education is even in the car.)
About half of the roughly ten states with vaccine mandates for educators have boasted about the vaccination rates of their educators. The rates range from 79%-89%, according to EdWeek. Do you want your child being taught by teachers who submit to any expectations government passes down? Should teachers answer to parents, or to the government?

The power players in the nation’s education system are happy to see hundreds of nonconforming, unvaccinated educators leave or be terminated; they are eagerly replaced with those who will conform to what the government wants for your child.
You might want to consider seeking out one of those terminated teachers to educate your child…A courageous role model showing them what it means to stand up for one’s beliefs; a person with expertise and sharp critical thinking skills. Public education’s self-imposed “brain drain” of talented teachers could mean you’ll find fantastic educational opportunities elsewhere.
