Heart of a lion? Made of steel? No, something better: Armor of God, Ephesians 6:10-18
Can you imagine showing up to teach your class when thousands of other teachers are beating a drum and marching the streets? Can you imagine your colleagues, in the school passageways shoulder to shoulder with you one day, but the next day screaming in your face? Relentlessly harassing you? Shunning you?* (And then – returning to the classroom and telling their students to be kind and respectful to one another? To honor one another’s choices and beliefs?)
Throughout history there have been brave individuals who stood fast in their convictions – and were proved right in their standing. The brave teachers who’ve crossed the Chicago “Teachers'” Union picket line will be proved right in their standing.
And if you could see with “spiritual eyes” you’d see they stand girded in truth, righteousness, readiness of the gospel, faith, salvation, Spirit and the prayers of thousands of other teachers standing with them in support.
The union marches in a swell of solidarity, yet cannot topple one individual standing for what is right.
“With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.” 2 Samuel 22:30**
